Will the videofileplayer ever be upgraded to play MP4
I am creating designs for a group but their viros are mainly MP4 format and converting is a tiresome process
They want to make home training affordable for clients so BxShadow for bioera is not an option.

Thanks

The VideoPlayer plays mp4 if there is a right codec installed in Windows system. This codec can't come with BioEra installer, but if it is installed externally then BioEra will play it (or any video for which it finds a codec).

Installing those third party codecs can sometimes be problematic (when they interfere with each other and what is already in the system), but once those problems are solved they play well.

WEBM is a format which is patent free, so it is supported specially and future BioEra installers will come with WEBM codec installer.

Jarek,

I installed the K-Lite codecs with no luck playing MP4 videos. Then Installed windows codec pack with some negative results. I have ininstalled all old codecs to avoid conflicts and restarted the computer . No luck.

Is there a codec pack or installer that you would recommend. I can always go with the windows media player element but that would remove dimming the screen from playback options

Thanks

I have inalled another codec. This time I get different error messages in the videofileplayer

One error says video_time_format
The other says Memory.

This leads me ti think that the video is now loading but errors take place after it is loaded.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

There is no simple solution to a codec problem. Often more than one codec is used to play a video, and they must be correctly connected together, and all of that (selection and interconnection) is done automatically by Windows (not BioEra). So this is really a question what codecs are currently available, and how well they match each other and the video file.

It could be also something special about your mp4 file.

Here is mp4 video which I just tried:
http://proatech.com/download/video/fractal.mp4

See if it works for you. If not, it is possible that maybe third party codec installers need to be uninstalled. It works on my computer without installation of any third party codecs.

Download the above mp4 file to 'media' folder to use it directly with this design:

Don't click on the link.

Instead, right click and select: "Save link as...".

Thanks

That video does not play in the design on my computer either. I am in the process of uninstalling all my media players, and installers. I have uninstalled all codecs. till trying to get this to work.

Driving me a little crazy.

New error now says Video Rendering.

I tried it on another (fresh) Windows and am also getting VIDEO_RENDERING error.

So it seems my primary computer has some extra codecs, but I don't know at this moment how I got them there.

I will try to research. Might not be easy though.

Not the highest priority

I am trying the Window media player element and can play pause with that and instead of dimming I can pause-hide/show-resume.

I installed k-lite codecs K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1544_Basic.exe from here:

https://codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_basic.htm

And now I can play the fractal.mp4 in BioEra on that computer. I used all default options during the installation.

Make sure you uninstall everything else. That is the only codec package I have (I also tried others before it but uninstalled those). This was tested on Windows 10 Pro.

I tried it on another fresh Windows 10 Pro computer.

It also at first didn't play, but after I installed the k-lite codecs (as above), everything is fine and fractal.mp4 plays well.

This is the only codec package I ever installed on this computer, with all default options selected during the installation.

I improved VideoFilePlayer in version 4.151.

The "Memory" error may print now more details (if it happens). Before this change it could have been caused by using national (unicode) characters in the file name, which had nothing to do with "memory".

Thanks for the upgrades to videofile player. I reinstalled k-lite and the upgraded to 4.152 worked like a charm. I loaded a huge hour long mp4 with sound track and it played well
