If neurofeedback (NFB) works through operant conditioning, then is it true that the client's attitude, which comes from environmental condtions, will have an impact on the results of certain neurofeedback session? It may be that this attitude will be reinforced. For example, if subject S is training the same protocol P in two environmental conditions C1, C2, then if in C1 S is more anxious than in C2, the state of being anxious will be reinforced while doing P. Have anyone experienced something similar? I am not claiming that NFB is only a placebo. It isn't. Yet, I think that the hypothesis that your attitude while doing a protocol is reinforced is plausible. 1. This hypothesis assumes that entire state of your organism is reinforced by NFB training if of course that state is present while receiving a reward. 2. Every protocol has an impact on the client's mood, yet it does not determine mood/effects.
