Dear All,

I read in the book, 'Technical Foundations of Neurofeedback', that (1) really what is important in neurofeedback training is to train flexibility as it is described it in the concept of concentration/relaxation cycle (based on Sterman's study on top gun pilots) (p. 151); (2) amygdala is turned off when theta (4-7) is rewarded (p. 134).

I was prescibed to do simple theta/beta training at F3-A1. I have trained it using (A) BioExplorer with Neurobit Optima, and (B) DeyMed Brainfeedback Pro device and software. Duration of each training is 30 minutes (6 x 5 minutes). After (B) I feel really centered, calm and powerful, while after (A) I feel fearful, social anxiety, nearly sucidal (it may be that amygdala is overactivated). I have no access to the precise mathematical formula of DeyMed's theta (3-7)/beta (15-20) protocol, but I have several hypotheses of what I should add to my BioExplorer theta/beta protocol based on (1) and (2) to achieve the effect mentioned in (B):

(i) double thresholds, (ii) variance training (either up or down), (iii) rocking of theta/beta ratio (decrease/increase this ratio), (iv) relative amplitude training.

Which of these (or maybe other) may be the most effective to achieve results similar to (B)? I forgot to add that I use the same averaging time and duration time (the time protocol conditions have to be met in order to receive one reward) in both cases (A) and (B).

Best regards,

Gabriel

Also, I was thinking about cordance algorithm using which is thought to be correlated with brain metabolism (Leuchter, 1994).

It may be that your questions cud be better answered on the yahoo biofeedback list. It is open to anyone who wants to join and you will most likely get multiple responses to you questions
