Jarek,

I have been able to successfully use password protection on several designs but now want to protect a couple nested designs.

I have tried several times but can not seem to make it work.

Can you give a quick "how to" description on doing this?

Thanks

George

Password set on a nested design is needed to load it and edit it. Not necessarily to run it.

If you want to make sure, that your nested design can not be used (run) without password, add NestedProperties element in it and select "Requires password to run".

Let me know if this needs more clarification.

I want to prevent the nested design from being opened and edited. It is not necessary for the nested design to need a password to run. When adding the nested design I filled in the nested design password. But when the design was saved and reloaded it could still be opened, edited and loaded.

Am I missing a step here?

This field is used when you want to run a nested design which "requires password to run"

If you want to protect your nested design, you need to load it, and set password in Design Settings.

OK.

One small step at a time. The nested design now requires a password to load. That is half of what I wanted to do. I have a nested properties element in the nested design that allows to set properties. I would like to prevent the design from being opened so that other changes can not be made.

Is this possible?

Thanks

There is no specific password protection for the properties. But if you do not wish them to be visible or set, you may use the "Require password to run" option. It will not only prevent the design from execution, but also from accessing those properties.

OK,

Just to make sure I am clear on this. My apologies for repeated questions.

I can use password protection to keep a nested design from being loaded on its own.

The only way to disable the "open nested design" function is to have the whole design password protected.
If a password is not entered than the design runs runtime only and no modifications are possible.

Yes, that is all correct. If you think a some sort of an improvement would be very useful somewhere here, let me know.
