Jarek,
Does the newest update require the -3.207-full-win.exe to be installed first

Yes, the 3.207 full version needs to be installed once before a newer update.
If you need to install back an older update (for example 3.205), then you should install again full 3.004 before it. |

I installed 3.207 protrial full version over 3.166 pro. That is, I did not first de-install 3.166 (although I did back up the program folder first).
Now, under Info / License, there is a hardware code and 14-day expiration notice that I can't edit, and I don't see any place to enter the pro unlock code I originally received with 3.004.
How do I activate the new version?
Thank you. |

The Trial version doesn't have an option to enter unlock code. Only Pro version can do this.
The Pro and Trial versions can coexist. So your Pro is probably still there under c:\ProgramFiles(x86)\BioEraPro folder. You should be able to start your Pro version 3.166 and use it as usual.
If you want to update to the latest development version please let me know by email: http://proatech.com/email.html |

Jarek,
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, it leave me confused.
1) The "protrial" in the 3.207 update suggests that it's a trial version OF the pro version, rather than something distinct from the pro version. And a trial version almost always can convert when you give it a license.
2) Your term "development version" suggests a beta version, which is not what I want.
Is there a 3.207 full version that's not beta and not trial? If so, where can I find it? I could only find the protrial version on the site.
And then, how do I get from here to there? Should I deinstall BioEra first? Actually, when I look in my computer's Control Panel, I don't even see bioera installed once, let alone twice.
When I look in Start Menu, under the BioEra Pro folder I see the following listings:
BioEra (console) BioEra (runtime only) BioEra Pro Manual Uninstall
BioEra Trial (console) BioEra Trial DeveloperManual Introduction
The last four items are a different color, indicating they are new. However, when I click on BioEra Pro (an old menu item), the 3.207 trial version opens. BioEra (console) (another "old" menu item) also opens the 3.207 trial version
When I look in c:\ProgramFiles(x86)\BioEraPro there's only one set of files and folders (some old, some new) and only one exe file, bioera.exe. The date on bioera.exe is 11/6/2012, but it opens the 3.207 trial version.
So how do I get from here to there? (Preferably, "there" is 3.207 Pro, but at this point I'd settle for 3.166 Pro or almost anything I can actually use.)
Thank you.

1. Some software work like that, but not all. BioEra has two separate installers for trial and pro versions. So no, the trial version can NOT be converted to the Pro version. The "protrial" means that the Trial version uses the same source code to create as the corresponding Pro version.
2. Yes, there is a full version of Pro available here:
http://proatech.com/download/bepro/bioera-pro-3.207-full-win.exe
I suggest you uninstall your Trial version (and delete the BioEraTrial folder entirely in ProgramFiles folder). Then install the above.
I can't explain your other problems (when the Pro link executes Trial version). I run and use them both at the same time (for testing). But you don't need to have them both, you only need Pro. |
