When exiting bioera on a clients computer, the process does not fully exit, and bioera.exe remains running in the background. When trying to open it again, an error appears because of the existing process. We cannot open BioEra again until the computer is restarted.

Any suggestions?

That usually happen when there are some problems with device drivers.

Try if you can terminate the 'bioera.exe' process in Task Manager. If that works, then you should not have to restart the computer and it indicates some lighter driver problem (some deeper driver issues will not allow to terminate it).

Also, if that works (the Task manager termination), then you may want to use the latest BioEra update (3.207) which allows to do that when BioEra starts without a need to open the Task Manager.

Unfortunately, the task manager does not allow us to close the process. I have completely removed and reinstalled the device driver (using a U-Wiz with latest windows 8). Do you still think 3.207 would help the issue or are there other steps I can take to resolve the driver issue?

Since you can't terminate the process in Task Manager, then no, version 3.207 will not help you.

Problems like that are hard to solve and I don't have a good idea. Driver reinstallation sometimes help, but not always (there is probably something else on the computer which prevents them from working correctly). The Windows OS reinstallation would most likely help, but it takes a long time.
