I spent some time trying to use the Microsoft DVD codecs, but they did not work for me either. I don't remember the error now (it was more than a year ago). I think it was something related to audio (and video working) but I could be mistaken.
WinDVD version 8 gold edition should work. It works for me and others on Windows 7 and 8.
The Microsoft DVD codec is not included with Windows 8, so it would be of a limited use anyway. |
