|
Hi Jarek, I have a mother design and a nested design within. In the nested design I have a DesignInteractor doing \"save current design\". I want to save the nested design globally, meaning that any other design who loads the nested design will load the altered (overwritten) design.
This is possible by choosing \"load global and save\" in the properties which the nested design shows in the mother design However this overwrites the mother design as well, which is undesirable. Can I save the nested design without saving the mother design?

| No, that it is not possible. This option in DesignInteractor always saves the main design. |

| I think it is possible. Although probably not in this element, but rather NestedDesign element. |

This new option will be available in DesignInteractor in the next version: \"Save nested design\".
It will save the parent nested design (or print an error or console if there is no parent nested design). |

Wait, what do you mean exactly by \"parent nested design\"?
I have design 2 nested into design 1. In design 2, I have an element to save design 2 (overwrite it on disk). Design 1 shall remain untouched be this.
Is this what you implemeted? Your last comment confused me because obviously there is always design 2. If not where would the element be which does the save command?

Parent nested design relative to the DesignInteractor element.

This is exactly the wrong way round.
The design 2 in which the design inteactor resides shall be saved and no other one.
Specially not a design in which 2 is nested. |

| If want to save nested design 1, then put the DesignInteractor in it. |

wait, I think I get it.
What you mean by \"parent nested design\" is \"the design where DesignInteractor lives in\"
correct?
but how could this design be nonexistent? |

I said parent nested design, not parent design.
The main design is not a nested design. So this option will not work if DesignInteractor is put in the main design.

sorry i think there is a complete misunderstanding in this. Please see the picture I send you.
in this picture, I want to save design 2 on disk (overwrite it once and for all), while 1 (and every potetial even higher design) remains untouched.
this shall be done by an element that resides in 2. |

Have you ever tried this option?
We can discuss the same all over again, it is so much easier to do it. |

if you had a look at the picture, you'd see that it was not that hard to see what i want. |

| Is there an available build that has this option yet? It would save me a couple hours of work today if the save nested design option was available to me. |

I'm using 3.043, and I'm not seeing the 'save nested design' option. Am I behind on builds?
